Skiing in Jackson Hole

Skiing has been an integral part of Jackson Hole since the early 1900s. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, one of the world's best ski resorts, has a big reputation for steep terrain and receives over 400 inches of snow each year. Enjoy 2,500 acres of deep powder, groomed runs and breathtaking backcountry. There are two other ski areas in the area as well: Snow King, which is located downtown and has both day and night skiing, and Grand Targhee, which is loved for its epic snow conditions and huge views of the Tetons. As in all mountain environments, the weather can vary greatly, but Jackson Hole usually experiences a drier snow due to cooler temperatures and low humidity.

A Winter Playground

In addition to skiing, the winter playground of Jackson Hole provides abundant cross-country skiing, dogsledding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Visiting Yellowstone by snowcoach or snowmobile is a unique and memorable experience, making it a great option for a day off from the slopes or an entire vacation itself. Togwotee Pass is a snowmobiler's dream with miles and miles of trails to explore. There are several  outfitters that can help make the most of your time when visiting Jackson Hole, and any of our reservation agents are happy to guide you on the right track when planning your winter adventure.

To relax and unwind from a day in the mountains, soak in Granite Hot Springs, a nearby natural hot springs. The local favorite is located just 30 minutes from Jackson Hole and is a relaxing way to see the Wyoming wilderness. We would be amiss to not also mention the many luxurious and award-winning spas in Teton Village and the town of Jackson. A visit to any will ensure you return home fully rejuvenated from your Jackson Hole vacation.
