You've booked your perfect rental, now it's time to pack your bags! Does anyone else always forget SOMETHING when they pack for vacation or is it just us? Making a list and checking it off helps, and our tips for some of the things you may need while visiting should help too! And don't worry, if you forget something, we have lots of great shops here in Teton Village, the town of Jackson and in between.
Ski and Snowboard Gear
Prep for your trip to Jackson with the basics:
- Skis and/or snowboards
- Ski poles
- Ski/snowboard boots
- Helmets
- Goggles
If you’re not bringing your own gear to Jackson, we’ve got you covered. There are several area ski rental shops that will get you fitted and on to the slopes.
Ski Clothing
Layers, layers, layers! The weather in Jackson offers something for everyone; it might be cold in the morning, but as the sun comes out, a light jacket may do. It’s best to dress in layers, so bring thermal tops and pants (non-cotton is best) for under your ski pants. Then if you need to lose a few layers, it’s easy to do. Pack a beanie for under your helmet and bring a neck gaiter (which can double as a mask!) and you’ll be much more comfortable. A final checkoff for goggles and gloves and you’re all set.
- Warm clothing
- Extra socks
- Woven hats/Beanies
- Scarves/Neck Gaiters
- Light Jacket
- Thick Jacket
- Boots
The Essentials
It’s the little things that are easy to forget. With many people working from home and distance learning, you'll want to make sure you're setup with your tech equipment and chargers! Having a small backpack makes it easy to carry sunscreen, lip balm, tissues and most importantly, a water bottle or hydration pack. It’s easy to spend the day making several runs on the slopes and forgetting to stay hydrated. Drink up while you’re on the lift and get some quick energy from a protein bar or other snack.
- Reusable water bottle
- Lotion & chapstick (it gets dry!)
- Sunscreen
- Laptops/iPads
- Chargers
Off the Mountain
There are a lot of other great activities around Jackson Hole in addition to skiing and snowboarding. You can snowmobile, dog sled, cross country ski, snowshoe or go fat tire biking. All will get you out in the elements so make sure you have the proper clothing. Much of what you’ll need will be the same as if you were hitting the slopes but make sure you have warm socks and boots as well.
Around Town
Once you’re done for the day, it’s off to dinner and nightlife around Jackson. You might find it more comfortable to have a lightweight but warm thermal jacket, a pair of gloves and something to keep your head warm...in case you want to make your way between several nightspots!
And don’t forget to pack your swimsuit! Some of our rentals have hot tubs to soak away those sore muscles or you can visit some of the area hot springs.
