This is your opportunity to stay in a rustic and historic cabin located within the Grand Teton National Park. Take a step back to a time when Jackson Hole was still wild and rugged by booking the Rocking Rackets. One of the only cabins available for rent in the Grand Teton National Park, and located within 5 minutes to Teton Village, this is truly a unique and one of a kind property. The Rocking Rackets property opens to a magnificent landscape and open spaces, abundant with wildflowers and wildlife. If you are looking to unplug, relax and enjoy your overall surroundings- this property is for you. Zoning regulations require that this property is reserved only one time per 30 day period. The Rocking Rackets is comprised of a primary structure and a separate bunkhouse. The bunkhouse is not available for rental at this time. The primary structure has original building components that were hand built in 1925, the same year as the epic altering landslide also know as the Gros Ventre Slide and is still standing to this day. Updates, renovations and remodels have ensured that this property remains comfortable and relevant almost 100 years later.

The original structure of the home contains the kitchen, master bath with king bed and one of two wood burning stoves/fireplaces. Local, western art work contributes to the authentic old west experience. Multiple large outdoor decks, with a BBQ and seating area that allows guest to enjoy the expanse landscape of the Grand Teton Park is not to be missed. Enjoy all the comforts of home in the well appointed kitchen but with the added benefit of having Grand Teton National Park views right out the window. Grab a book, a loved one, or a glass of wine and curl up next to the wood stove while the peace and quiet of the national park settles in.

The master bedroom is located on the original side of the cabin with rustic wood floors and exposed log beams. Additionally, there is private outdoor access from the master bedroom. Charming paned windows behind the king-sized bed allow for natural light to fill the room. This master bedroom also hosts a sitting area and a small wardrobe. Grab a book, a loved one, or a glass of wine and curl up next to the wood-stove while the peace and quiet of the national park settles in. The second sleeping area located in the original part of the building is a lofted space, accessed by wooden stairs in the living room and offers two twin beds. Guests should note that this stair access is steep and consider the safety of people accessing. Roll away beds can be available and set up in the family living area for more sleeping. The view from this room of the surrounding scenery is quite stunning!

The kitchen is also located in the original part of the cabin, between the master bedroom and the living and dining room areas. Enjoy a peaceful breakfast in this charming kitchen while sitting at the breakfast nook with a hot cup of coffee and fresh eggs scrambled in a cast iron pan, gazing out the paned windows and soaking in the beauty of Grand Teton National Park.

The part of the home was added on later to the original cabin is bright with high ceilings, light wood, and abundant windows. There is dining and seating for up to 10 guests. After dinner or a long day spent in the wilderness, there is plenty of space for family and friends to sprawl out into the living room and play games while cozied up to the warm, wood-burning stove. From this large space, there are three doors allowing guests access to the outdoors. The front deck is covered, spacious and has two sets of outdoor furniture. Often there are a dozen or so different bird species that can be seen while sitting on the deck as well as other little critters such as chipmunks and squirrels. Deer, moose, and foxes have also been known to make an appearance now and again.

Guests will get to this property through the Parks south gate, via Moose-Wilson Rd just past Teton Village, of the Grand Teton National Park. As soon as you turn onto the two track dirt road that accesses the property you know you are heading somewhere extremely unique. Located inside the boundary of Grand Teton National Park, surrounded by vast wide open spaces and just minutes from all the amenities that Teton Village and the town of Jackson has to offer this property provides an unrivaled combination of rustic seclusion and modern convenience. A car with 4-wheel drive, all wheel drive or higher clearance is suggested to navigate this private gravel road that leads to Rocking Racket’s driveway. As you turn off from the main road, wildlife abounds.

The front door is located on one of the three decks, in front of which you’ll see outdoor seating. The decks on the property almost completely wrap around the cabin. This is a must see!

Please read prior to renting:

1. This cabin is located in Grand Teton National Park. Along with the immediate access to nature comes with a high likelihood that nature may want to enter the property. If doors are left open for too long, it is not unusual for animals to enter the home. Although this property comes with services that work to control the presence mice, mice are a part of the natural ecosystem in Grand Teton National Park. Mice, and frequent contact with all types of wildlife, are an inevitable part of staying at the cabin.

2. There is an outdoor fire pit on the property. However, it is strictly prohibited for guest use. The risk of starting a wildfire in the national park is simply too high. There are two wood fireplaces in the home.

3. The road to the cabin is a dirt gravel road. It is necessary to have an SUV or other vehicle with a higher clearance as the road is dirt and commonly rutted for a half mile.

4. The cabin does not have a dishwasher. A washer and dryer is included.

5. Internet located at the property, there may be interruptions to this service, however most times the WIFI offering is substantial for everyday use. Guest staying in this property may also access internet services at the RMR offices during business hours. However, no refunds or considerations in rent will be offered due to disruptions in service.
