Jackson Hole Activities

Opening Day for the ski season is still a few weeks away. Now is a great time to bring the family to Jackson and spend some time exploring the area between the busy summer and winter seasons!

Granite Hot Springs

What better way to warm up during these cool fall days than a dip in the Granite Hot Springs Pool. It’s located less than an hour south of Jackson in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. You’ll enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding forest and mountains while relaxing in a natural hot spring. Just $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids. It’s open 10:00am-6:00pm and is accessible by road until October 31. It then closes and reopens December 6, but is only accessible by snowmobile, dog sled, skis or fat tire bike.

Wildlife Safari

Fall is when wildlife begin to move across the landscape to begin preparing for the winter months. Take the kids on a wildlife tour and see elk, moose, bison and maybe even bears and wolves. There are several tour guides to choose from; Jackson Hole Wildlife Safaris, Wildlife Expeditions, Eco Tour Wildlife Adventures and many more

National Elk Refuge

If your kids haven’t seen the elk, then bring the family to the National Elk Refuge north of Jackson. The National Elk Refuge provides, preserves, restores and manages winter habitat for the nationally significant Jackson Elk Herd as well as habitat for endangered species, birds, fish, and other mammals. Kids can learn more about elk and even become a Junior Blue Goose Ranger. Then stop at the National Museum of Wildlife Art located on the hill above the Refuge. They are a kid-friendly art museum.

Bike the Pathways

The beautiful fall days are calling and what better way to be close to nature than riding your bike. The trees are still hanging on with color, but the leaves won’t stay for long. Bring your bikes or rent one in town, hop on and take advantage of the great Pathways system. There’s a path to take around town or put on a few more miles in any direction.

Come and enjoy Jackson Hole in October. With the mild weather and fewer crowds, it’s a great time to bring the family!
