Summer

Summer in Jackson Hole is filled with miles of alpine trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. There is something for everyone to enjoy on the trails around Jackson Hole. For a workout, plan for a hike up “the town hill” named Snow King, or take a cruise in the mountain bike park in Teton Village, or enjoy the view from the atop a horse. All these activities are located close to your vacation rental and can be a fun half-day summer excursion.

Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis and Teton Pines are two championship golf courses in the area that test your game in an amazing setting. Tee times fill up quickly so be sure to make plans well in advance. Many of golfers also travel over the hill to Idaho, or down through the Snake River canyon, to other nearby courses.

Pristine rivers combine with some of the region’s most glorious terrain to make the region a world class fly-fishing destination, and white-water paradise. A float trip down the Snake River is a must do summer activity. Whether you wish to enjoy some spectacular wildlife viewing, or have a thrilling adventure on the water, there are plenty of options for you and your family.  

Jackson Hole has no shortage of special events in the summer season. Some of the locals favorites are the Saturday Morning Farmer’s Market and the twice weekly Jackson Hole Rodeo. The outdoor music scene has really taken off in the last few years, providing free outdoor concerts in town and Teton Village. The Art Association and Teton Village Association also host great fairs and art showings. Nearly every week there is a special event to make your visit to Jackson Hole even more memorable. 

Winter

In the winter, you’ll find some of the best skiing in the world. Skiing has been an integral part of Jackson Hole since the early 1900s. Jackson Hole has a big reputation for steep terrain and deep snow. Jackson Hole averages over 400” of snow each year. As in all mountain environments, the weather can vary greatly, but Jackson Hole usually experiences a drier snow due to cooler temperatures and low humidity.

With 2,500 acres of deep powder, groomed runs and breathtaking backcountry, Jackson Hole is a destination on top of every skier’s and snowboarder’s bucket list. In addition to the world-class Jackson Hole Mountain Resort there are two other local ski areas. Snow King, which towers above the town of Jackson, is a favorite for day and night skiing, while Grand Targhee is loved for its epic snow conditions and huge views of the Tetons.

Jackson Hole is a winter playground providing cross country skiing, dog sledding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Visiting Yellowstone by snowcoach or snowmobile is a unique and memorable experience, making it a great option for a day off from the slopes or an entire vacation itself. Togwotee Pass is a snowmobiler's dream with miles and miles of trails to explore. To relax and unwind from a day in the mountains, you can include a soak in the nearby natural hot springs. Granite Hot Spring is a local favorite located just 30 minutes from Jackson Hole, and is a relaxing way to see some Wyoming wilderness.
